Social responsibility

We care about people throughout our value chain.

Social responsibility means caring for people. At YIT this means respecting human rights, ensuring the well-being and safety of our employees, providing favourable working conditions and promoting their development. We also prioritize equal treatment and equal opportunities for all. In addition to these internal aspects, we actively consider and address the needs of the local communities we operate in.

In line with YIT Sustainability Policy, every YIT employee must respect human rights and treat everyone fairly, respectfully and equally. This applies both to our own personnel and to the personnel of our partners. Our employees are the key to our success. We invest in the well-being and continuous competence development of our personnel.

We are committed to respecting labour and human rights in our own operations and in our supply chain. Occupational safety is an integral part of our values and a visible part of our daily operations. We continuously strive to enhance our occupational safety. We want to provide a safe and healthy working and living environment for our personnel, our partners, our customers and other stakeholders. We provide our customers with safe and high-quality products and services. We regularly assess our human rights impacts and take action to ensure the conditions for their realisation.

We are committed to respecting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations (UN) and the eight core conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) which our partners must also commit to respect. We are also committed to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our social sustainability themes include occupational safety, competence development of personnel and human rights.
